RealPositiveGirl - Weekly Encouragement & Mental Health
How to Trust God With Everything in Our Lives
Trust is a hard thing. It’s difficult for some people to trust those closest to them, even without any fault to their name. I can see how it would feel even more difficult to trust a big God with control over everything. But it doesn’t have to be difficult if we have a relationship with God & know He is trustworthy.
Don’t get me wrong, even people that KNOW God, know His character, and know He only wants to help us can struggle to trust Him in some areas of their lives.
We get caught up in fear & worry that He doesn’t know what we want, what we need & what WE think is best. But He does. He knows all these things & more that we don’t know & can’t know right now.
I’m going to give you some tips on how to trust God with everything in your life, but before that, I want you to know WHY it’s important to trust Him with everything.
- God Knows Everything & Has Perfect Wisdom
- Isaiah 40:28, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.”
- God is the Most Faithful
- 2 Timothy 2:13, “If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.”
- God Loves You the Most
- 1 Peter 5:7, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
Here are my 4 tips on How to Trust God With Everything in Our Lives:
- Know Who God Is
- Know His character. Cultivate a relationship with Him. Understand how faithful He is, and how much He loves us.
- Psalm 9:10, “Those who know your names trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.”
- Reflect On His Faithfulness
- Remind yourself when He was there to protect you, to help you & to give you guidance & understanding. Even if you didn’t attribute it to God back then but KNOW it WAS Him.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:3, “But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”
- Become More Patient In His Timing
- God plans things better than we ever could. He knows better than us.
- Ecclesiastes 3:11, “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”
- Do What God & the Bible Tells You to Do
- Spend time in the Word to know all the things God wanted us to know & hold close to our hearts, then OBEY the principles & way of life it tells you to do.
- When God tells you to do something, despite how out of place it may sound to YOU, do it.
- Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

This is the A Real Positive Girl podcast and I am your host Sabrina, and I'm here to share the Bible with you and how studying it and cultivating a relationship with God can help you tremendously and your mindset and your mental health. And I do that two times a week around here. So if you are new, welcome in. I hope that you find this episode to be really beneficial to you and any other episodes you decide to listen to that have already been recorded back, like what I like to call in the archives, if you are not new, welcome back. I'm so glad that you decided to come back, listen to another episode and hopefully gain like more clarity, understanding, and beneficial advice for you in your journey in your walk with God or understanding who God is and how definitely him and the Bible can help us with our mindsets and with our mental health. Today we're gonna talk about how to trust God with everything in our life, which sounds kind of overwhelming and a lot, but I, I promise you it's gonna be pretty fantastic. But before we get into that, I wanna point you in the direction of the show notes below so you'll see where you can come and say hi to me on social media. I am at Sabrina Joy Perso on both TikTok and Instagram. And now the new Threads app, if you are a part of that, that just kicked off from Instagram. And so come say hi and come say hello to me. Let's create a friendship. Let's develop a community. Let's just like get to know each other a little better. If you're interested in that. You'll also see the link for the show's YouTube channel down in the show notes. So if you're interested in watching all my facial expressions and my hand gestures and things like that, if you're into that, you can go ahead and check that out too. Slowly uploading versions, uh, the video version of the podcast to that channel, it takes me a long time cause I have to sit down. I usually do like 10 at a time and then I only do that once every two weeks. Don't ask me why I need to become better at that, but you can check out what's there now and then there are a couple other things down there. So check 'em out when you have a moment to peek down there in the show notes. But let's go ahead and jump right into our topic of the day, which again is how to trust God with everything in your entire life. So in the episode right before this, which would be episode 5 0 6, I believe, uh, I shared how much of a control freak that I was growing up and you know, because it was because of a lot of trauma that I experienced as a child and my family life and all of those things. And since I really went into that episode a little bit deeper talking about it, I will save you from repeating it, especially if you are a regular listener. If you are not, um, whether you're a regular listener or not, if you have not listened to that episode, I do suggest that you go and listen to that episode. And you know, I feel like it's kind of like a companion to the one that we're we're film that we're filming and we're recording today, the one that you're listening to right now because it talks a lot about letting go of control and like letting God do his thing in our lives. So if you wanna hear me share like my personal connection of having control issues growing up and then, you know, along the way finding an. Opportunity to let go of control and allow God to do his thing, please go listen to that. You should listen to it anyway. Even if you skip by that part <laugh>, it'll just be really, really helpful. So because letting go of the control that we think we have over our lives can really help us to, you know, fully trust God in everything that's going on in our lives and allow us to just like freely be the light that he intended us to be for his amazing kingdom. So I do encourage you to check that out, but as I was mentioning, we are gonna talk about trust today because you know, trust is a hard thing. Like let's just be honest. I'm not here to sugarcoat it for you and just be like, yep, I'm just gonna tell you to trust God. Like I do wanna tell you like you just need to trust God. But I understand that from a human perspective or someone that hasn't uh, spent enough time building up relationship with God or really know who he who is, or maybe you've known who he is for years and years, but you still struggle with the trust, with like letting go of the control with really understanding how amazing it is to fully trust God. I do wanna sit here and tell you honestly it's a hard thing. It's difficult for some people to even trust like the people that are closest to them in their lives without even any fault to their name, right? They're just literally being the best people they can in their lives. And some people really have a hard time trusting them. So I can see how it felt even more difficult to trust a really big God that really does have sovereign control over everything and not someone that you can like, especially in this day and age with the internet, check up on someone or like try to manipulate them into maintaining trust. You know how sometimes we do because we get so like caught up in the fear of not being able to trust people and being double crossed being um, like regretful of that. And it's, it can be really painful and worrisome and anxiety driving, right? But it doesn't have to be difficult if we have a relationship with Christ as I had already mentioned and know that he is truly trustworthy. But don't get me wrong, even people that like know God and like know his character and spend time with him and know, and know truly in their hearts and in their minds that all he wants to do is help us and love us and support us. Even those people, like people like me and other people that are at different levels in their spiritual growth do struggle to trust him in like specific areas of their lives. Because a lot of times when we want to give up control, sometimes it can happen like piece by piece or section by section or even season by season where we continue to lay down control of our lives to God and like hopefully get to a point where we're fully just letting it all go for him because you know, he really does have control anyway. We think we have control. It's this misguided like fallacy that we fall into and just allowing it all, giving it all to him, it just makes life so much easier. But it can feel really difficult in the beginning if we are not uh, understanding of that or that is new to us. You know what I mean? So just so you know, no matter like what level of spirituality you feel like you have or how long you've been in your walk with God or regardless of that, it can still feel very difficult to fully trust and God. And you know, we get caught up in like fear and worry that he doesn't know like what we want or what we need or what we, we as the human, as the person on earth that doesn't know as much what we think would be best. But he does. He absolutely knows all those things. He knows exactly where our hearts and our minds are. He knows where we're anxious, where we're worried, where we're really like freaking out about what's going to happen. He knows all of those things, which is crazy how when we come to prayer in him and we don't wanna be honest about how we're feeling, we don't wanna come to God as like a friend, as someone that's like, listen<laugh>, uh, this is what's going on. I'm really upset about this. I'm really frustrated about this. Like whatever it is, we constantly wanna hold it back and just like say the nice things or the calm things to God when God knows when we are boiling over, when we are frustrated, when we are mad in our hearts, in our minds, in our spirits. And we just need to be honest with him because that will also work into us trusting him more because we are trusting him that we can tell him these things cuz he already knows. Plus admitting those things to him will help us to develop an even deeper relationship of reflecting the character of Christ because he'll help us to be like, okay, well I know that you wanna get all caught up in this anger but let me shift you in this direction and tell you why it's better. So I don't wanna get off in a huge tangent about that, but it's really important for us to realize that our trust in him, it'll reflect so much love and grace and everything. And so he knows everything that's going on in our hearts and minds already. So he knows all the things and more that we don't know and that we can't know right now, which is really important to, to note that there are so many things that are coming up in our future but also something I didn't put in my notes and now I'm thinking about there were so many things that could have happened but God was there and he gave us grace and mercy and helped us to go into a different path where we actually needed to go. And so it's important for us to note that like he has done so much for us already and he knows what's coming up for us. He knows and that's one of the biggest reasons why I feel like my trust personally has grown so much in God lately. Uh, realizing that he knows so much more than me, you know, leads me to be confident in him. Like confident, like okay, he knows what's going to happen next and what's going to happen in the far off future. I don't, there's no way for me to know that. Like absolutely not. I could sit all day and worry and and ponder and assume based on history and what's happened before and all of these things and what's happened to other people that are in similar seasons of lives and situations. But there's no way for me to fully know. He knows I will never for sure know until I get there, right? And so it's important and that has led me to be more confident in him knowing what needs to happen for something else down the line in the future to work out. So it's like okay God I think that I need to do this right now. You are telling me that I actually need to do something else, okay, I'm gonna trust what you're telling me to do because you know the order of my steps and where I need to go, what I need to be doing, what needs to actually happen, you know? And that has really helped me grow in my trust and confidence in God. So I am going to give you some tips today on how to trust God with everything in your life. But before we get there, I find it very important to understand why, why it's important to trust him with everything. And I have believed in the concept of understanding why and then what to do always in that order, in any type of advice that I've ever given. I feel like. So even prior, like you know, only months ago when I, and for the past like probably two and a half years where I have been giving advice on mental health and mindset with, you know, sharing the fact that I am a Christ follower and that I love God and how he's helped me so much but not really like transforming all of my content into that. So even when I was only talking about mindset and mental health, it, I always found it very important to, for people to understand why, why something is important, why it should be done a certain way, why it, it causes this, that and the other and then what to do. And I find that to be very similar in understanding like how we can trust God with everything in our life. Because if we understand the importance of why, then we can, it's easier to follow the advice and the tips and the steps that I provide and that you find out and learn more in your own study and in the future from someone else sharing the word like what you can do and what you can continue to do and even understanding the why to share with someone else and share the things that work best for you. You see where I'm going? So really quickly I am going to share with you just three quick things on why it is so important for us to trust God and then we'll jump into the tips on what we can do to trust God more with everything in our life. So the first like answer or reason why it's so important for us to trust God with everything in our lives is that the fact that he knows everything, it has perfect knowledge and wisdom of everything that is going to happen in our lives. That has already happened of course. And he just understands the nuances of how all of those things work together. We do not, we have no idea. He has better understanding of our lives and the circumstances that we are currently in. Um, how are they gonna progress and anything that's gonna come after that. He knows all the things. So why wouldn't we want to trust in a God in the God, the only God that knows everything and has perfect wisdom, right? And you know, oftentimes we can get all caught up in thinking that God might not have the perfect knowledge and wisdom because he doesn't think about things the way that we think about them. He doesn't, you know, kind of like go about having things happen the way that you want. And it's such an egotistical pride thing that we think that we're better than God. There's no possible way. There's no way, okay? And cuz there are like so many like prophets and teachers and messengers in the Bible that are like way better than who we are today. You know, cuz they really laid it all down and suffered so much for the Lord. And this is not even about comparison, but it's un about understanding that we don't know anything. And the sooner that we admit that, the sooner that we continue to just live our lives with knowing that God knows everything perfectly on fully understanding, we do not, we don't understand how this really tough struggle and hardship that we're currently going through will provide us with so much strength for the next thing. It's like how possibly could this struggle provide us with anything that will be helpful for the future? But God knows and it's also a good like, uh, ability for us to demonstrate our faith in him that he will continue to strengthen us and work through us so we can continue to be a light in the world for his kingdom despite the pit of despair that we're sitting in, despite the struggle that we're going through, despite whatever problems we feel like are taking us down. Like quicksand, right? Isn't it funny that quicksand is not quick? It feels quick if you're in it. I've never been in it, but like when you see it on TV and you are like slowly going, it doesn't feel quick. Maybe it's quick. I don't know. I was gonna say maybe it's quick at the end. I have no idea. But God knows everything. He has perfect wisdom. He understands every single thing. Ian Isaiah chapter 41st 28 it says, have you ever heard, or sorry, lemme start again.<laugh> Isaiah chapter 40 verse 28. Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. Like it's just absolutely amazing everlasting creator of all things. You know, I feel like sometimes despite how well we know God, we feel like we know God and deep in relationship and time spent and cultivated relationship with him, we forget about those things. He created it all or we like take it for granted or something. It's just like shifted away in our minds we're just like no. Well we're all focused on like what's happening now and how we feel allowing our emotions to drive the bus, which I've told you time and time again, don't do it. It's like letting a kid with a permit that's new to driving drive you around without sitting in the front seat. You better hold on tight and pray you don't crash. That's what it's like allowing your emotions to control you to lead your life. We need to not do that. So God knows everything has perfect wisdom. It is like the number one reason why we need to trust in the Lord. The second one I wanna offer you is God is the most faithful, faithful than anyone else ever will be in your life. You can count on him. He there was no fault there, okay? He never breaks his promises. He will always be there for you. It may not be in the way that you are expecting, you're hoping, you're telling him you're wanting, but it doesn't mean that he isn't there. He just knows the better way to do it. And if we trust in him, then we'll know that he will know the best way and he will do it that way and that will be the best right in the book of second Timothy. You know all get into the end of the Bible. Second Timothy chapter two, verse 13. It says, if we are unfaithful, he remains faithful for he cannot deny who he is. He cannot deny, he can't like be that wishy-washy friend that says they're gonna do something or they're gonna join you for dinner that night and then literally cancel 15 minutes before we all have friends like that. I have a friend like that. That person actually openly admits that they're wishy-washy and that's just the way they are. They've gotten better over the years. But still God isn't like that. God's like, I'm gonna be there for you, I'm gonna help you. I'm gonna meet you at the, like if God was like, I'll meet you at this time on this day, 30 days from now, he'll be there probably early. He'll be there on time. But it's just like, it's amazing. It's phenomenal to think that like you can count on God because he will do everything that he says he's going to do. He is faithful, he will always come through for you no matter what. Again, let's remember that he'll come through in the way that he knows his best and we need to trust that he knows best cuz he knows all the things, perfect wisdom. And the third reason I wanna offer you a why it's so incredibly important for us to trust God is that God loves you the most. So not only does he know the most things and that he is the most faithful ever, he also loves you the most out of everyone that you will or have ever met, ever have in your life. He loves you the most. He created you, he designed you for a purpose. He gave you all the skills and abilities and giftings and everything that you have. You are where you are because of God. You are alive because of him knowing. This helps us surrender it all to God. Cuz you're like, oh my gosh, he loves us so much. Okay, lemme just lay it all down for him and know that he will care for us and he will always help us. There are so many instances, instances in the Bible where he shares how much he loves us and cares for us. The one I'm gonna share with you now is first Peter chapter five, verse seven. It says, give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you. He does. He wants you to lay it all down. He wants you to surrender to him. He wants to love you, he wants to take care of you. He wants you to just be invited into his like loving arms and take care of you. He does. So those are the big three reasons why I wanted to share with you why it's really important for us to trust God. Because he knows everything. He has perfect wisdom. He is the most faithful and he loves you the most. He will trump everyone in your life assuredly a hundred million percent. I am confident in that. So I am gonna share with you four tips of the tips that I believe would be best to help you with how to trust God with everything in your life. But as always, I want to give you my quick disclaimer and you know, surprise, it is a new disclaimer. I wrote a new disclaimer and a new intro for this episode and moving forward, because it was time to shift based upon the things that I talk about and how my content has kind of shifted, you know significantly, it has shifted. So here is my quick disclaimer. Everything that I have shared so far and sh and I am about to share is all based on my own knowledge and study of the Bible. I do take thoughts and understandings from online resources like biblical commentaries or AI sources that help bring together related scriptures and studies to share with all of you. I encourage you to do your own Bible study all the time and dig into the scriptures. I share with you here on the podcast and everywhere else that I offer content, I will help, it will help to spend some extra time to really get into your heart and mind if you study the scriptures on your own. If you don't find what I'm sharing to align with your understanding of the Bible or the topics I speak about or the advice that I am offering, I do encourage you to seek counsel from a trusted friend, family member, or even a therapist or counselor. I see a counselor every week myself. Everything I share here is meant to be taken as advice from my own personal study of the Bible. You're not obligated to do anything I suggest. Please make your own decision on whether or not this advice would be best for you to follow. Okay, so and yes, full disclosure, I did read that because I did write it today. I don't have it memorized yet, but soon<laugh> so won't be so like you know, you could tell I'm reading it. Um, okay, so here are my four tips on how to trust God with everything and your lives. I pray this is amazing and helpful to you. And just now I realize, man, should I be praying in these episodes? I don't know, I think it would be helpful, but I don't know, let's do a quick prayer. Lord God, I just pray that anyone that is watching or listening to this episode will find help and understanding and how to best give all of their trust to you in every part of their lives. Even people that do have trust in you and most of their lives is allowing it to overflow to every piece or even people that don't know who you are, but want to begin a relationship with you and co cultivate that and really give all the trust and surrender everything to you. I pray that everyone finds something helpful in this when they listen and are able to share it with others and continue to be a light in this, in this world for your kingdom. In your name, pray, help me to share all of this with your strength through me. Amen. Okay, so four tips on how to trust God with everything in our lives. Number one, know who God is. Know who God is. Know his character, right? So when you trust someone, you wanna know who they are, you wanna know what they're all about. And that's also one of the biggest reasons why ever since the internet has been around, since I was a little girl, it's important for us to know who we're putting our trust in. Often on the internet, we believe everything we read on the internet, which is crazy. We shouldn't, we should take our own time, do our own due diligence and find out if it's true. Do we have proof? Are other sources saying the same thing? Can we confer? Does it make sense? Okay, so no, like you, you do that with people in your lives. You do that with people that maybe you go into a relationship with. It should not be any different than with God. And yes, I, you know, and that kind of sounds bad, but I would say that if you do struggle with trust, then see it the same. And just know that if you know his character, you know by reading the word, if you actually cultivate a relationship with him, if you spend time with him, if you understand how faithful he is, how much he loves us and what he told us he will do, then you'll know who he is and you'll be able to better establish trust with him in him. And I do truly wish that everyone could just be like, I'll be like, just trust him. And then you're like, okay, I will Sabrina. But I know that not everyone's like that. I know that a lot of people have gone through so much crap in their lives that's hard for you to trust anyone. So that's why I think that if you know his character, just read the word, it's there, it's amazing. I'm gonna read you a scripture and that'll help you get like a jumping off point on understanding who he is and what he is all about. But yeah, just dig in, know his character. If you don't know where to look in the Bible, if you, I should have brought my Bible. Oh, I do have one <laugh>. If you're watching this someday in the future, if you have a Bible and you are like, I don't know how to find more, um, information about a certain topic. So in this Bible, which this is a really great Bible, it's a really great translation. I do, my favorite translation right now is the New Living Translation. Um, but this is the God's word translation. And if you look in the back, there is something called an application index, which basically is like, it's an alpha alphabetized list of like topics like anxiety and impatience, arrogance and humility, difficult times, criticism, how to handle it, how to handle death, complaining, encouragement. And then next to all of those categories, all those topics, it'll give you a reference, meaning it'll give you scriptures to look at that reference, those topics in, in this bible particularly, it'll give you the page number if you're not familiar of the books of the Bible and what the order is, which is great. Um, but even if it didn't, you literally could just jump back to the top of the Bible where it gives you the table of contents, find out where the book is if you don't know the order and then find it. So that's how you could dig in, you could get on the internet often. I haven't done a video in it. I want to so badly and I just need to find time. Um, but you can use ai, you can use, I personally use chat g p t to look up and find corresponding scriptures to different topics and bring things together because I don't like me personally, I don't know where I read scripture in the Bible is about everything, right? I, I don't, I'm not um, a, I would say like a trained pastor or anything like that. Um, I'm working my way to study the Bible on my own and understand it and be able to, you know, share and recite Chris uh, scripture and know where things are and share it with people and be able to be on quick on my feet like that. But I feel like even some pastors don't know where every single scripture is. So it's important to know your resources. So you can actually use a physical bible, you can go online, you can type in the chat gt like please bring up some scriptures that talk about this topic. Talk about who God is, his character. It will give you some, go look them up in the Bible and find a translation that you can understand best. Go to one of the best resources on the internet. You, I think it's blue letter bible.org. Go there. You can find text commentaries for free. Amazing. If you've never experienced reading a biblical text commentary, it's absolutely life-changing. Um, different writers will explain things in different ways so you'll find one that you really like. It's one of my favorite things I didn't expect to really like go super deep on a tangent on this first point. But I'm not surprised, uh, because it's really important. You wanna know who he is. You will find out, you'll easily find out who God is by reading his word and creating and cultivating a relationship with him. And you can use so many different resources to find the scriptures and the knowledge so you can put it all together and understand who he is and what he's all about. So know who God is in the book of Psalms chapter nine, verse 10. It says, those who know your names trust in you for you. Oh Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. So if you're searching for him, you're cultivating a relationship with him, you know who he is, you know his character, you know what he's about, then you'll trust him. You'll know, you're like, okay, God is all these amazing things. How could I not trust him? And then you do So know who God is. Number two, reflect on his faithfulness. Reflect on his faithfulness. This is really an exercise for you to take time to remind yourself when God was there for you, when he was there to protect you, when he was there to help you, when he was there to lift you up. He was giving you guidance and understanding of what's Even if when those things happen you didn't like directly attribute those things to God. You know now that it was him. And so reflect on those times where you're like wow, yeah, you know, there was a time when I was in a really tight spot and things really sucked but I was able to get out of it and I was like, oh my gosh. Like how did that happen? It was God. Or even the smallest things where you're like, you know, someone just came through with being able to pay for some gas when your credit card like God declined or something. That was God. God blessed you with someone to come along and help you with that. God has blessed you in times where you may have almost gotten into an accident on the freeway but you didn't. He has blessed you with the words to say and the things to like actually not say in different conversations and situations and experiences you are in. That was God. So many times God has come through for you without you even asking. And it's time for us to take the time to recognize that that was him. He's faithful, he is always gonna be there for us. You know, and the scripture that I found to reflect this absolutely fantastic. I mean they're all fantastic but it's just such a perfect fit. So, and again I'm using resources to help me find all these scriptures as well. So I'm so grateful for that. But let me read to you from the book of Second Thessalonians chapter three, verse three. It says, but the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. It's literally telling you that he is gonna be faithful always and forever. He will strengthen you and he will guard you. He will keep you safe from the evil that is going on in the world. Also, if you reflect back like uh, earlier in the episode where I was giving you like three R big reasons why I wanted, like why it's important to trust in God like the ones that I thought were most important to share with you. You'll remember that I shared with you that God is the most faithful and that was a reason why it's important for us to trust God because he's faithful. And then also to trust God with everything in our life. It's important to reflect on that faithfulness. I actually think the scripture from earlier, the second Timothy chapter two verse 13 is probably like and even more elevated scripture talking about his faithfulness. It says if we are unfaithful, he remains faithful for he cannot deny who he is. So even if we decide to just turn around and forget who he is, he will not do that to us. He is better than us, he will always be better than us. And it's really important for us to remember that he is better than us and he will always be faithful despite what nonsenses we are getting ourselves into. Okay, so reflect on his faithfulness. Number three is become more patient in his timing. Become more patient in his timing. So God plans things better than we ever could. It doesn't feel like it in the moment when we are trying to get things to happen. We're trying to force things to happen and then it doesn't happen. We're like so frustrated we're like God, come on. I knew how this should have gone. Why didn't you do it the way I wanted you to do it? Ah, we need to be more patient in his timing. It can really suck at the beginning because we're so caught up in wanting to control everything thinking that we actually can control anything outside of ourselves and we don't. But we have to just admit and accept the fact that he plans so much better. And it's because we are so fixated on what we can only see with our eyes and understand right now like what's happening right now and what have already happened in our past. We cannot see to the future on like and understand like why this is a better way to do this rather than the way that we wanted to do it. Right? So we get so fixated on what's happening right now. Our, our perspective is so limited. Even when we do try to widen our perspective, we're still not gonna see everything that God sees than God knows. So he knows so much more and we need to respect and accept that by having patience with his timing. He knows better than us, he'll always know better than us. And we just need to accept that and understand that it means we have less of a burden on us to know everything that's going to happen in the future. And I can't imagine the amount of anxiety and worry that would just continue to like pile up the more that we understood what was happening in the future. It's crazy because I am a person that did, as I mentioned, struggle with a lot of control issues and I always wanted to know what was gonna happen. But now thinking about it, it's like no actually it sometimes it's nice because then you feel like you can plan for the future. And you know, we kind of do plan for the future a little bit right now. But if I were to actually know what's gonna happen a year from now and it's like vastly different than what I originally had planned for or thought, like all of a sudden God's like, okay, lemme just reveal to you. And I feel like there are times where God does reveal to us like what's going to happen in the near future. And we're like, no God, that's not gonna happen. We immediately think like, no, not me could be me. That's not the plan I have. But again, God knows better than we do. He'll cultivate a better plan than we ever could because he knows what's best for us. He knows what's going to happen. He knows how to weave it all together to be absolutely fantastic and magnificent for him, for us, for everyone involved. Okay? So become more patient in his timing. His timing is perfect. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it, especially when we get in the way.<laugh> in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter three, verse 11, it says, yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart. But even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end. And honestly praise God for that because again, that would just add another burden onto us to know it all and feel like we need to do more and tinker up and what's gonna happen and or try to sabotage or get in the way of. Things that we don't think we're right for or will fit in our lives or that we'll be interested in. And he just knows better. He just knows better everything. He made everything perfect in his time. We need to trust and be patient in his timing. And number four, the last one I wanna share with you and how to trust God with everything is do what God and the Bible tells you to do. Do what God in the Bible tells you to do. The word of God is inspired by God. He wrote, he had all of these people write so many things for us to know. Principles, values, ways to live our life, things to do things not to do, you know, promises to remember from him. It's incredible. It's absolutely incredible. But for us to cultivate trust in God, we do need to do what he tells us to do and what the Bible tells us to do to establish that trust. Spend time in the word to know all the things God wants us to know and hold close to our heart and in our minds to share with others, but also to know for ourselves. Then obey the principles and the way of life it tells you to do. In hindsight, I should have included that verse from James. Oh, I feel like it's James chapter two. You know what we're gonna call an audible and try to look right now with this Bible. But there is a verse in James where it talks about how we need to, actually, I'm pretty sure it's James talk. We actually need to like do what he's telling us du And um, I need to keep going. Um, but we don't, it's like we read the Bible and then we don't actually do what it's telling us to do. You know what? I'll be so stoked, uh oh went too far. I will be so stoked if I'm actually correct cause um, I myself have actually been trying to spend time. Ooh, here we go. Uh, spend time understanding like where things are in the Bible and remember scripture and uh, actually, um, memorize it. And that's been really, really important to me. Let's see. Uh, let's see. Um, sorry, I'm still here. I know dead air, like when you're listening to a podcast, her leg, is she still there? Um, let's see. I feel like it's so I'd said James too, right? And I believe, oh no, I was wrong. It's James one. Okay, I found it. So in the book of James chapter one, verse 22, do what God's word says. Don't merely listen to it or you will fool yourselves. If someone listens to God's word but doesn't do what it says, he is like a person who looks at his face in a mirror, studies his features goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. However, the person who continues to study God's perfect teachings that make people free and who remains committed to them will be blessed. People like that don't merely listen and forget they actually do what God's teaching says. So yay, awesome on the spot. Yes, it's like a win. Um, so James chapter one verses 22 through 25. Look that up. Spend some time, uh, studying it. Did I say James chapter one? Yes, James 1 22 through 25. It's literally telling us that like you have to do what the word says. Don't just listen to it. Don't just read it and be like, okay great, this is awesome. Because if you don't like keep it in your heart and actually take action on it, then you're not actually doing what the word is telling you to do. You're just knowing the knowledge, right? It's like kind of like going to school and studying all the things but not taking any action to actually work in that field. You know, you're just like, yeah, I'm just gonna like major in some random subject but never actually use it. It's really a waste of time and money and resources and all the things, right? If you're never gonna actually use that resource. And so for us to actually establish trust in God, we need to actually use the resources, which is a relationship with him and the word that he has provided to all of us to read and know and understand and use with what he tells us explicitly to do. If we don't do those things, we can't have the expectation that we can trust God because he can't even trust us to do what we said we're gonna do, which is to live the life according to what His word says and what he tells us to do. You know what I mean? So spend time in the word to know all the things God wanted us to know and hold close in our hearts and then obey the principles and the way of life it tells you to do. Also when God tells you to do something, this is something that I am personally working on and even reading a book about right now cuz I need it. Uh, when God tells you to do something despite how out of place it might sound to you, you do, you gotta do it, you gotta do it. And it's not that I like am constantly not doing things that God tells me to do, it's just that I get all like worked up about, oh my gosh, how is that for me? Does that sound familiar?<laugh>, oh my gosh. Like, I don't think I can do that. You've chosen the wrong person. No, you don't mean me. Oh wait, let me think about this for 20 more days. And then like, you know, that that opportunity passes by and it's not that, you know, we're gonna like quote unquote not get the wonderful blessings and opportunities God has for us. It's just that like that one right there. We it, it might have just been like that one time where God gave us the opportunity. We might get it again in a different way, but it's like, why wouldn't we just say yes all the time? Because it's scary because we think that we have control over our lives. We really don't. And so when God tells us to do something, despite how out of place it sounds to us, to him, it's like, no, I'm literally giving you amazing knowledge. Just do it. Like literally just do what I'm telling you to do and life will be easy, breezy, lemon squeezy. You know, you can't establish trust if you don't allow it to be proven. So, but to experience God's faithfulness, to know you can trust him, which you can, you must do what he and his word are telling you to do, are commanding you to do. Just do it. Because if you don't and you just read it and you just hear what God is telling you to do, what does it say? You will fool your yourself, right? You'll look at yourself in the mirror and then go away and then you'll forget who you are, what you look like, and it, it just doesn't retain. It doesn't stay. It's not gonna be able to help you in hard times. It's not gonna help you understand something later. It's not gonna be the foundation of how you live your life. If you don't take action on it and do what the Bible and God, God is telling you to do, it's impossible. You have to do it. And if we don't, then we're not actually doing what God is calling us to do, to be Christ followers, to be Christians, to be a light in the world, right? This is not cherry picking. You can't just choose what you wanna do, you gotta do it all. Okay? So spend time in the word understanding it, understanding what your obligations are. These are good obligations, these are positive, these are helpful. These are guiding, guiding principles and values to live our life by. So read the word, do what the Bible and God tells you to do. The verse that I originally planned to share with you, which I'm still gonna share with you, but don't forget, the one in James is from Proverbs chapter three, verses five through six. It says, trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and he will show you which path to take trust in Him. Don't worry, put the worry and the anxiety to the side. Know that he's got your back. Don't depend on your own understanding cuz you don't understand it all. You don't see it all. You don't know about all of it. So how possibly could you make a good decision for yourself if you don't know what's coming? He knows he's planning, not plotting, he's bringing it together. It's a divine decision by him. It's gonna be amazing. Again, it doesn't feel like it because he's not doing the things that we thought we were, that we think we should do cuz we think we know what's best for red sauce. But we don't trust in him. Don't depend on what you think is right. Ask him, Hey, am I thinking in the right direction? He'll tell you how he wants to tell you. Seek his will in all you do align with his will. If you're out here doing something else and does not align with the will that he shared with you and you believe is what he told you, it's not gonna work out either. You gotta do what he wants you to do. Okay? We are here to serve him. Tell everyone we can about Christ, love him so much and enjoy the riches and glory that he blesses us with. And also give that back to the people. Okay? So seek as well in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Take action in faith, step out, do what he tells you to do, and then be flexible when he tells you to take a sharp right turn or something. Because again, we're gonna step out in the steps and the faith that we think we're supposed to go according to what he's told us of what we read in the word and all these things. And then he's going to guide us along and be like, okay, enough on that side, we're gonna take a turn, we're gonna turn around, we're gonna do a U-turn, and then we're gonna go a high slope and then we're gonna go down in the valley and then we're gonna go all around the town. Just be flexible and willing. I'm telling myself this too, that he knows what he's doing and that's the most important thing, and that'll help us establish trust in God and how we can trust him with everything in our lives. We can just surrender and lay it all down and just be that wonderful light that he intended us to be. So that's all. That's all I have to share with you today on The Real Positive Girl Podcast with me, Sabrina, when we're talking about how to trust God with everything in your life.
